Harry Potter characters, situations, etc...
This song reminds me of Harry ... 'Superman' by Five For Fighting. The flying bit doesn't fit...Harry loves flying, but the general sentiment is there...
I can't stand to fly I'm not that naive I'm just out to find The better part of me
I'm more than a bird I'm more than a plane I'm more than some pretty face beside a train And it's not easy to be me
I wish that I could cry Fall upon my knees Find a way to lie 'Bout a home I'll never see
It may sound absurd But don't be naive Even heroes have the right to bleed I may be disturbed But won't you concede Even heroes have the right to dream And it's not easy to be me
Up, up and away, away from me Well it's alright You can all sleep sound tonight I'm not crazy or anything
I can't stand to fly I'm not that naive Men weren't meant to ride With clouds between their knees
I'm only a man in a silly red sheet Digging for kryptonite on this one way street I'm only a man in a funny red sheet Looking for special things inside of me, inside of me Inside of me, yeah inside of me, inside of me
I'm only a man in a funny red sheet I'm only a man looking for a dream I'm only a man in a funny red sheet And it's not easy…
It's not easy to be me

This song reminds me of Fudge "The Ostrich" By Flanders and Swann
Flanders: Peekaboo I can't see you everything must be grand bookapee they can't see me as long as I've got me 'ead in the sand Peekaboo it may be true there's something in what you've said but we've got enough troubles in everyday life I just bury me 'ead
Swann: Oh ostrich consider how the world we know is trembling on the brink have you heard the news? may I hear your views? will you tell me what you think? the ostrich lifted his head form the soft sand about an inch or so
Flanders: you will please excuse but disturbing news I have no wish to know
Peekaboo I can't see you everything must be grand bookapee they can't see me as long as I've got me 'ead in the sand Peekaboo it may be true there's something in what you've said but we've got enough troubles in everyday life I just bury me 'ead
Swann- then I noticed suddenly where we were I saw what time it was make haste I said it'll be too late we must leave this place because- he stuffed his wingtips into his ears, he would not hear me speak and back in the soft saharran sand he plunged his yellow beak
Flanders: Peekaboo I can't see you everything must be grand bookapee they can't see me as long as I've got me 'ead in the sand Peekaboo it may be true there's something in what you've said but we've got enough troubles in everyday life I just bury me-
(explosion sound)
Swann: from a sheltered oasis a mile away I observed that dreadful scene and a single plume came floating down where my ostrich friend had been because he could not bear the sound of theses words I'd left unsaid here in this nuclear testing ground is no place to bury your head

You might know this song from "Dawson's Creek"... I also read it in a Harry Potter songfic, and I thought it worked pretty well for how Harry's friends must feel in a post- Order of the Phoenix world (even though the songfic left a lot to be desired and had far too much Cho). I'll Stand By Youas performed by The Pretenders Oh, why you look so sad? Tears are in your eyes Come on and come to me now Don't be ashamed to cry Let me see you through 'Cause I've seen the Dark Side too When the night falls on you You don't know what to do Nothing you confess Could make me love you less I'll stand by you I'll stand by you Won't let nobody hurt you I'll stand by you So, if you're mad, get mad Don't hold it all inside Come on and talk to me now And hey, what you got to hide? I get angry too But I'm alot like you When you're standing at the crossroads Don't know which path to choose Let me come along 'Cause even if you're wrong I'll stand by you I'll stand by you Won't let nobody hurt you I'll stand by you Take me into your darkest hour And I'll never desert you I'll stand by you And when, when the night falls on you baby You're feeling all alone You won't be on your own I'll stand by you I'll stand by you won't let nobody hurt you. I'll stand by you Take me into your darkest hour And I'll never desert you I'll stand by you (The songfic, if you are curious, can be found here: www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=1547933.)

I should start a new thread, but IE is being evil, so I want to move around as little as possible... so here's a summary of the HP Fanimation....
INTRODUCTION- 8 Measures
Sirius, standing just in front of the Veil, curses (bellatrix, is it? doesn't matter, we dont see her...:-P) a look of amusement on his face.
He is cursed back, looses his balence
CU of the expression changing on Siriu's face from glee to 'Oh crap'
Midrange camera- Harry makes a reaching gesture, and shouts "Sirius!" a look of horror on his face.
Shot of the veil, curtains swaying
Lupin restrains harry from jumping after sirius
I'm not sure what to put here... I was thinking the line 'better part of me' would be something good to go by since harry and LV are linked and such... but no idea what sort of visuals would be good I can't stand to fly I'm not that naive I'm just out to find The better part of me
This whole next section, I had something for, but I changed my mind.... I was going to have a shot of Snuffles following the Hogwarts express (because of the reference to trains) But I don't know... I'm more than a bird I'm more than a plane I'm more than some pretty face beside a train And it's not easy to be me
Harry looks at his parents in the mirror of Erised... I wish that I could cry Fall upon my knees Find a way to lie 'Bout a home I'll never see
The mirror of Erised changes to the scene where harry smashes sirius' hand mirror. It may sound absurd But don't be naive Even heroes have the right to bleed I may be disturbed But won't you concede Even heroes have the right to dream And it's not easy to be me
Fade into Scene where 'Dumbledore tells all' (snort) Harry, in a fit of rage overturns DD's table and generally makes a teenager of himself until finally he seriously considers cursing DD. Shot changes to DD, and harry's anger deflates into sadness.
Up, up and away, away from me Well it's alright You can all sleep sound tonight I'm not crazy or anything
Scene changes to 3rd year quidditch match, the way it was meant to be done, with non flying dementors, and an actual, non-cloud formation Snuffles. I can't stand to fly I'm not that naive Men weren't meant to ride With clouds between their knees
Not sure what to do here except I want it to start with a flash of green light, and end with Dumbledore's pensieve showing the image of trelawney reading the prophecy I'm only a man in a silly red sheet Digging for kryptonite on this one way street I'm only a man in a funny red sheet Looking for special things inside of me, inside of me Inside of me, yeah inside of me, inside of me
I'm thinking about doing a montage of book climaxes here. not sure what order to put them in though...probably in order I guess... I'm only a man in a funny red sheet I'm only a man looking for a dream I'm only a man in a funny red sheet
Harry looks at the photo album of his parents. (perhaps) I know I want to end the song on the picture of Lily and James and Sirius at Lily's and Jame's wedding. And it's not easy…
It's not easy to be me

From Beauty and the Beast, the musical.. seems kind of Snapey to me... I think it could be about snape joining the death eaters and then regretting it.
How long must this go on? This cruel trick of fate. I simply made one careless wrong decision and then that witch was gone and left me in this state an object of revulsion and derision hated is there no one who can show me how to win the world's forgiveness

Eeeh I dunno why but this song reminds me of snape. although I would chabge blue for black.. Heehee!
Behind Blue Eyes The Who
No one knows what it's like To be the bad man To be the sad man Behind blue eyes
No one knows what it's like To be hated To be fated To telling only lies
But my dreams They aren't as empty As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely My love is vengeance That's never free
No one knows what it's like To feel these feelings Like I do And I blame you
No one bites back as hard On their anger None of my pain and woe Can show through
But my dreams They aren't as empty As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely My love is vengeance That's never free
When my fist clenches, crack it open Before I use it and lose my cool When I smile, tell me some bad news Before I laugh and act like a fool
And if I swallow anything evil Put your finger down my throat And if I shiver, please give me a blanket Keep me warm, let me wear your coat
No one knows what it's like To be the bad man To be the sad man Behind blue eyes

I've been humming this song all day during work and, not only is it slowly driving me mad (or it could be the Walmentors of Azkamart), but it reminds me of Snape as well.
This is a song I wrote waaaay (probably 8th grade or so) back when I was writing a musical version of Faust, so it doesn't really have a name, but it's sung by Faust in the climactic scene when he has a change of heart. This especially works well if you like LOLLIPOPS. (Er...Love Of Lily... something something Our Poor Severus... or something.... The upshot being that Lily had a hand in Snapes change of heart concerning being a DE)
Oh God, Hear my prayer, If you're still listening to me, then I need you to be there. I don't expect to be saved, I don't want You to forgive, But please, Oh God, please. Let her live.
Colors of autumn Snowflakes in winter Flowers of Springtime The warm breath of summer
These are the things that really matter, I want her to have all these things again
I want her to taste the breeze by the seaside feel the warm sun on her hair to see the stars that shimmer at night the miracles everywhere.
Colors of autumn, Snowflakes in winter Flowers in springtime....
Oh God, Hear my plea, If You're listening now, I know that You must be, If what I ask is too much I know that just well may be... Then take her into Your care to rest against your knee.

This song reminds me of Harry ... 'Superman' by Five For Fighting. The flying bit doesn't fit...Harry loves flying, but the general sentiment is there... Well, we shall see how he feels about his Firebolt now that Sirius is gone. He certainly regrets not asking Sirius if he was as good at Quidditch as his dad (though I'm sure Remus would be able to answer that, too....) Maybe Harry won't have the heart for using his Firebolt for a while, especially if he stays banned from Quidditch.
