Well, after yesterday's showing on NBC in primetime of an absolutely butchered edit (from 4 hours down to 3) of last year's Sci-Fi channel remake miniseries of Battlestar Galactica, hopefully enough buzz will be generated that someone other than myself will be watching the new series when it debuts this Friday on the Sci-Fi channel. Meanwhile, the better 4-hour version of the pilot miniseries will be shown on the Sci-Fi channel on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, then again in one block on Sunday afternoon. Actually, by then the first eleven episodes of the new show will have appeared on Sky One in the UK (Marcus, any chance you get that in India?). Word on the internet from the Brits is that the new show is absolutely incredible, very dark and gritty and emotionally intense. In hopes that the show is worth it, I've already begun incredibly preliminary work on a BSG fan website of my own, which will be at: www.geocities.com/galacticafaq/This site will be based on the format of my old Andromeda fansite (replace galactica with andromeda in the above URL to see what's left of it). Those of you with only a middling honesty and a healthy disregard for the letter of the law can probably find the episodes already aired in the UK online. If you find a decent site, I wouldn't mind hearing of it, but urge anyone downloading eps to also watch the show on TV when it's on.

Alas, we do not get Sky One in the mountains (although I have seen it in Delhi, along with AXN, which shows Andromeda), but we get Rupert Murdoch's asian equivalent Star, which has a variety of channels, including Star World (American/Brit TV Programs), Star Movies (English-language films), Nat Geo, Star News, Star Gold (both in Hindi), and ESPN (nothing like US ESPN, shows mostly cricket and soccer... you can catch an NBA game occasionally). My point in spewing all that is to ask, beg, plead Martin (BB) to tape this new series, then SEND THEM TO ME! I only recently received 3rd Season Enterprise and 5th Season Angel as a Hanukkah gift (three months late, damn the Indian Customs Service!) I'm still enjoying the 1st Season Earth: Final Conflict he sent me and if I can find a way to reciprocate to him, I can. Maybe I can tape some The Kumars at No. 42 (Brit comedy) for him... Anyway, life goes on for the sci-fi deprived. Party on...

Oh, I will...and if you happen to catch the latest seasons of Monarch of the Glen and/or Ballykissangel, my Mom is hopelessly addicted to reruns of both on PBS, but it usually takes a while for new eps to reach across the pond.

Martin, we've seen the last and final season/series of Ballykissangel, because they didn't make any more after the first set of episodes with the Aussie priest. Apparently ratings fell so much that BBC NI didn't renew it. There is, however, a new series (10 episodes) of Monarch of the Glen that recently premiered on BBC and has yet to migrate coconut-style to the States. Wow, I know way too much about this. *goes to Google herself a life*
