Well, it's finally going to happen. ProBoards, which provides the webspace, bandwidth, and programming for this board and many others like it, is in the process of upgrading all of its member boards to Version 4 of their software. You may have seen the ad banner announcing this upgrade across the top of every forum page, and if you haven't, look now. 
What does this mean? Well, despite the promises of board unavailability lasting "between 24 and 36 hours", expect it to be at least 48. But once OoCF becomes fully operational under the new system, a few new features will be available.
To see the new features in action, toddle on over to The Ivory Tower (owned by Mlle, mllebienvenu.proboards13.com/) or Dark Illusions (owned by Demonic Neko, ravenish.proboards13.com/), which have already been upgraded.

- Karma, a points system which allows you to "exalt" or "smite" other users, thus changing their karma-point totals. We've had a lot of fun with this so far over on Mlle's board, smiting our villainous role-play characters and (mostly) exalting each other.
- Added admin functions. I really won't know what exactly this entails until I get to poke around on my updated board, but I'm told there's new stuff. We shall see.
- Profile changes. A slightly different format for editing and viewing your user profile comes with the upgrade. I'm still torn as to whether or not I like the new pull-down menu for site-owned avatars, which isn't as preview-friendly as the old way and is more conducive to bandwidth theft.
