Now look guys, Imperial Security is not responsible for ALL the evil in this universe. I mean, I could destroy a planet right now and the Imps wouldn't be involved. Mind you, I'd have to find a way to justify it, and the resulting investigation might lead back to them anyway... My point is that there is other evil guys out there, you just have to look for them! ImpSec is the easiest to blame, as they are a large, nebulous organization, full of schmoes just looking to be eaten up by plasma fire. However, there are other badasses and demi-gods out there to blame. For Example: - Vin Dane - after all, he is technically in-charge of ImpSec, all threads have to lead back to him eventually. Of course, he is rather tough, and rather difficult to get ahold of... never answers his messages, never calls, never writes...
- Andrea Treschi - also introduced into this act, EVIL. EVIL! Uber-political character, massive mind mage, you gotta love this former player character turned NPC.
- Imperial Regulators - we had one appearence by these guys so far. Think of them as a smaller ImpSec, but individually more powerful members.
- Senatorial Police - Treschi's secret service, these guys haven't shown up yet, although their leader happens to be a good friend of Welthammer, so technically they're on the players' side. Technically.
- Lord Cornelius - head of Yakuza-Gaijin, former lieutenant to Treschi (or IS he?), managed to almost kill Cho (or DID he?), but this ex-TI trooper turned underworld heavyweight is worth a look.
So there's plenty of factions out there to blame - ImpSec's too easy, guys...

I'm getting there, I'm getting there... Oh sure, I wanted to invent a vast conspiracy that would involve more people than just ImpSec. But I just didn't think it would be reasonable to cram all of those people into one dang bar!*Glares at Martin* EDIT: Ah, censorship, how we love thee. ;D

Yeah, I keep telling Lolua to delete the list of banned words that came with these forums (over on my SW7 forums, the only censored word is "Rush Limbaugh", which gets auto-replaced by "Big Fat Idiot"). But she refuses to eliminate all censorship. Sheesh, and I'm supposed to be the evil, repressive dictator here...
But in regards to ImpSec...sure, half the schemes blamed on them are actually run by others. Most ImpSec personnel are busy chasing real criminals and just doing their jobs to collect a paycheck. So when they get orders to do something, they don't neccesarily check to see who gave the order. They're used to occasionally getting odd orders.
And since people are used to blaming ImpSec for nefarious schemes (partly because they DO do a lot of awful stuff, partly because InSec did worse), when someone like Treschi or Vin Dane or anyone else within the MK power structure wants some dirty work done, they'll subcontract it out to their own people within ImpSec.
Actually, my guy has no idea if it's ImpSec or the Emperor or Treschi or whomever who wants his data, all he really knows is that ImpSec was listed on that letter as being interested in it. And it was you who wrote the prologue, in which both my guy and JW first had run-ins with ImpSec.
So, Marcus, back off. You have no one to blame but yourself for our plot at this point pointing to ImpSec as the badguys. If and when the whole plot is revealed it may or may not be ImpSec at the top of the pyramid of schemes. Lorpy had discussed some interesting ideas along those lines. Once he drops me off to meet Clarke, he's gonna go uncover the plot and make trouble for the universe in general, and I'm gonna get to work on my own scheme to render the MK's mind-control plot a moot point. (maniacal laughter barely suppressed)

Actually, I got started off fighting the Civil Police, the ones I supposedly have in my pocket. ;D But yes, fear not Marcus, conspiracies above and beyond ImpSec are in the works. I like that "trouble for the universe in general" statement, Mart. Citizens beware!

Huh. Could have sworn that Dragonfly-class fighter was from ImpSec, but upon re-reading the prologue, it seems the service branch of Flight Lt. Ishan Pateria was not mentioned specifically.
Somehow I doubt the CP's get space fighters, but you never know. A squadron of Fleet fighters dedicated to supporting the CP's and the Customs Service, perhaps, but not actually part of the CP. Eh, it's the MK, who knows how much firepower they give various branches of the law enforcement apparatus?

Well, ya gotta keep the bulletin board full of new things to talk about, otherwise no one says anything for months! Martin makes a good point - I have used ImpSec just as much as anyone else. Of course, we're approaching the end of the 2nd episode, and I was just hoping to branch out into other evil villains. Another point to Big Brother - ImpSec could just be the all-purpose foot soldiers of the plot apocolypse, subcontracted to others. So maybe the villains I mentioned on the list - or others unmentioned - could be running the show. Now I'm off to plan my next heist or grow a long mustache... I'm a traditionalist.

You had "order" and "Weathers" in the same sentence?! Trust me, order has no place in my plans for him.
