MTV and various HP fan sites are reporting that Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand (the band, not the dead Austrian prince they're named for) have been approached by Warner Bros. to write music and possibly stand in for the wizarding band The Weird Sisters (who are male, not female, not unlike the band Twisted Sister) in the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire film. MTV story: www.mtv.com/news/articles/1492215/20041012/index.jhtml?headlines=trueThe Weird Sisters are: - Myron Wagtail, lead singer
- Kirley Duke, lead guitar
- Donaghan Tremlett, bass player
- Heathcote Barbary, rhythm guitar
- Herman Wintringham, lute
- Gideon Crumb, bagpipes
- Orsino Thruston, drums
- Merton Graves, cello

I wonder who's suggestion this was .... *coughDanielcoughcoughRadcliffecoughhackingcoughsplutter* *sneeze* .... I really wish I would become un-sick. Not that I mind particularly (about FF, I mean). I am somewhat fond of 'Take Me Out' ... However ... Twisted Sister would be so much cooler. Or both? "No! We ain't gonna take you out ... " Nah. Later Dayz. [glow=orange,5,500]The Oracle[/glow]

I totally agree on both counts: get well, and Dan Radcliffe probably did suggest it. The short article about it in the Sun-Times this week even came right out and said so, though I imagine that was more an educated guess (like the one we both made) rather than something backed by hard evidence or an interview. Update tidbit... Franz Ferdinand guitarist Nick McCarthy talked to BBC Radio about the songs the band hopes to produce for the GoF film. Apparently there are three songs already completed, written by Pulp frontman and songwriter Jarvis Cocker. Nick says Franz Ferdinand hopes to find time to write a fourth with him. www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/news/entertainment/041015_harrypotter.shtmlAbout Pulp, Jarvis Cocker's band: come.to/pulpworld/On a side note (mostly to Big Brother), "Jarvis Cocker" is oddly close to what would result if the Parker twins adopted a porn-star name: the street you lived on when you were born, and the name of your first pet. How strangely unsettling...

As you probably know by now (no thanks to this outdated thread... sorry 'bout that), it was announced that Franz Ferdinand would not appear as the Weird Sisters in the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire film. However, ContactMusic.com is still circulating rumors of a more limited involvement for the band in the movie. The latest is that the band is quarrelling with each other over whether or not "donating" a track to the film's soundtrack is too commercial or not. Okaaaaaaay..... www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/franz%20ferdinand%20argue%20about%20potter%20track

Duhokay, too commercial? Frootloops. Don't get me started ...
Anyhow.
Last I was made aware, F.F. had been completely cut from the project and were to appear in no way due to "other obligations" which translates as "front-man-is-scheduled-to-kick-bass-players-arse-in-a-wannabe-celebrity-deathmatch" (<-- That's Oraclesense for you). They're Scottish, of course they're fighting ... it's what they do best ... besides wearing a kilt ... and wooing me with their words ..................................................
Right. Moving on. I have read who was going to actually be the Weird Sisters ... Jarvis Cocker, yeah, but there was a gaggle of others. I'll have to search for it again. *sigh*

Under "News" on the official Franz Ferdinand site ( www.franzferdinand.co.uk/), an item entitled "News Rolls In from The Wizardly West" has been posted: I can't answer about the codpiece, but... wizards must not think much of Franz Ferdinand if the exchange rate is figured in "bogey flavour" beans... And I've no idea who posts the "News", but band-members seem to post to the blog on the main page.
