So someone got half an hour with the Goblet of Fire shooting script, and sent their report to someone (MuggleNet user Blackstar), who used to work for a film news site. Blackstar was nice enough to send a report in to MuggleNet.

Completely Cut From The Script:
- The SPEW storyline. Which means we probably won't see much of the school year between the Sorting Feast and Halloween.
- The opening scene with the Dursleys. If you've been following the GoF news, you probably knew this already, and that Richard Griffiths was quite put out about the way the studio handled it (he had to ask).
- The Hogwarts express. The source reports that "there are shots of it, but nothing in the train." Not a great loss, other than seeing Draco shoot off his mouth for the three-billionth time.
- The Weighing of the Wands. This bit of news confuses me, since I remember a news item saying John Hurt was coming back as Mr. Ollivander for GoF. If he's not coming back for the Weighing of the Wands, what's he coming back for? Bother. Maybe the cut was a last-minute decision, maybe the source was mistaken, or maybe it's been moved to some odd place (like Harry's Firebolt going to the end of the PoA movie).
Stuff that Recognizably Survived:
- "The Riddle House" with Voldemort, Wormtail, and Nagini. Seeing Nagini is going to be cool, but I get the sense that poor old Frank Bryce has been cut.
- The Dark Mark scene. Well, duh. How else would they explain that? Since Bagman seems to be out, the introduction of Winky and Krum and the Dark Mark scene will probably be the key points of the Quidditch World Cup Sequence. The rest is just an eye feast.
- The "Potter Stinks" badges. Excellent. Maybe the Creevey brothers will make an appearance, if only in the background. (I still want the kid from Love, Actually for Dennis.)
- The Blast-Ended Skrewts. In the immortal words of Lavender Brown, "Eurgh." But at least we'll know if that thing we saw in Hagrid's hut during PoA really was a skrewt.
- The First Task, featuring the Horntail. Well, we knew that from the shooting script pages.
- The Second Task, featuring the merpeople. Now we know why Rupert Grint is growing his hair out -- so it'll look cool floating around his head during this sequence. I wonder how they're going to do Krum's botched shark-transformation...
- The Third Task in the labyrinth. The spoiler source does not remember seeing the giant spider in the script, so it might be cut. Maybe Rupert Grint filed a protest. :-p But apparently the Sphinx will be there, which could be a cool bit of CGI.
- Dobby and Winky. Speaking of bits of CGI... They probably haven't cut all of the S.P.E.W. storyline if we still see Dobby, it'd be weird for him to just show up out of nowhere the morning of the Second Task with the Gillyweed. So I'm predicting at least one visit to the kitchens, probably the "House-Elf Liberation Front" visit before Christmas. I'm also predicting that Winky will be even more adorably annoying than Dobby.
- The Portkeys. Good, because the ending kind of falls apart without it.
- The Madness of Mr. Crouch. That will never live up to the way it plays in my head, but I'm looking forward to it, anyway. I wonder if Steve Kloves will stick in some Percy clues...
- The Pensieve scene. Hooray! I guess that means this week's set report wasn't lying. I'm starting to worry, though, that Crouch Jr.'s trial has changed -- that Bellatrix doesn't do her big speech and whatnot. I wish we had heard something about that casting, especially since they appear to be filming it already.
- Cedric's end. I hope they keep "Kill the spare." I also hope Robert Pattinson does a good enough job with Cedric that we care about him.
- The ending. The source claims "they manage to get it all pretty much in." Death Eaters, Lucius, golden cage, Lily and James... oh, yeah. But I wonder how they're going to make the Veritaserum scene visually interesting...
Things Drastically Abbreviated:
- The Yule Ball. As long as Ron is glowering at Krum, Moody makes comments about Harry's socks, and Snape blows apart the bushes, I'll be satisfied.
- The Quidditch World Cup. Does this mean we won't see Percy Weatherby sucking up to Crouch? Oh, darn. Poor Chris Rankin.
- Rita Skeeter stuff. According to the source, "she's in it, but not as much as the book." Well, yeah. If she were, the movie would be about 15 hours long -- not that I'd mind. :-p
- Harry stressing over the egg. But, but.... I wanted to see
Daniel Radcliffe bathing in the prefects' bathroomSnape in his nightshirtMoody talking to Snape about "spots that never come off". - Snape scenes. The source says, "he's not in it much." This makes me very sad, as Snape is a big part of Goblet of Fire. I'm quite fond of his nightshirt and blowing apart the bushes, but... I wanna see him show Fudge his Dark Mark and shake hands with Sirius, dammit!
- The love story between Hagrid and Mme Maxime. The souce claims, "it's there, but just reduced to a few brief moments for humor." As it should be, as it should be. I don't want to see Hagrid's hair slicked back into those bunches, but then, we saw the hairy suit in PoA, so I think we will.
- Dumbledore's humor. The source appears to be quite upset about this, complaining that "they never get him right!" Personally, I'd rather not hear the joke he tries to tell at the Sorting Feast, and I'm just hoping I cry during "Remember Cedric Diggory."
The source's ending comments...I have to tell you, I was disappointed when I heard they cut this from two movies to one, but it sounds like they really pulled it off. The second challenge really acts as a mid-movie action sequence that should blow the doors off of a lot of what we've seen so far in the films. The final challenge also sounds amazing, and the ending should be really creepy. I know they say this with every movie, but this one could be really eerie (not just "dark") because of the very evil Voldemort scenes. Not sure what the young ones will think of it. This stands to do justice to the book, and be the best movie of the series! (And after Cuaron's work, that's saying something!)
Remaining Questions:- Draco Malfoy the Amazing Bouncing (Naked) Ferret. Tom Felton was asked about the ferret scene, and said something about being naked after it. See related thread in this forum.
- The first Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson. This'd be a good question to ask Matthew Lewis, the kid who plays Neville, should you plan to see him anytime soon, or Rupert Grint, because of the spiders. I bet either one of them would know off-hand.
- Ron's fit of jealousy. He's not around for those script pages of the First Task, so I'm guessing it's still in. Ron interrupting Harry's fireside chat with Sirius would be a great scene, but I think I'll probably have to stick to watching that one in my head.
- Ron's girly dress robes. I'm sure fans will be looking for them, but will Ron still make a big deal out of them?
- Pigwidgeon. He didn't turn up at the end of PoA. Is he going to arrive at the Burrow after the World Cup, or is he not cinematic enough?
- Anything else you can think of?
