When the Trio go to visit Hagrid on the day of Buckbeak's scheduled execution, his hut is full of strange creatures.
Poking out from a pile/den/nest of something is a prehistoric-looking creature somewhere between a crustacean and a millipede. It is shown in a few shots while they visit in the hut. Just as Dumbledore, Fudge, and Macnair are arriving, Hagrid throws a blanket over the thing and its nest as if to hide it from the Ministry officials.
Look for this creature the next time you see the movie. Do you think this is intended to be a blast-ended skrewt, which we know (via Rita Skeeter) that Hagrid bred himself from a fire-crab and a manticore?

Yes I believe the Oracle nudged me in the side and whispered "That's a blast ended skrewt" and it did seem logical.

I'm quite impressed with all of you who noticed that on the first time through! ;D The presence of the skrewt somehow makes me feel better about the GoF movie, because the production team is already advancing the story arc towards the next film. I could almost forgive Steve Kloves some of his many sins against the material. :-P
Now if only the endings to Mike Newell movies didn't always leave me vastly disappointed.... *sighs*
