Today JKRowling.com celebrates its one-year anniversary. In honor of this momentous occasion, Jo has updated her site with a few tidbits in the FAQ and Rumors sections and named TLC as the new Fan Site of the Month. More importantly, she has announced that to coincide with the publication of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, a three-day press Children's Literacy Conference will be held at Edinburgh Castle on the weekend of July 16-17. 70 newbie reporters aged 8-16 will join her there to read autographed copies of the book in a special marathon session before they get to pick Jo's brain about it during the press conference on Sunday.
On Saturday the 16th of July, two of HP fandom's biggest names will meet with J.K. Rowling at her home in Scotland and have the chance to sit down for a nice long interview. Melissa Anelli, managing editor of the-leaky-cauldron.org, and Emerson, webmaster of MuggleNet.com, are the lucky duo. I'm definitely feeling the envy, though I'm planning on spending that time getting to know Jo better through the medium of her sixth book. ;D It'll be my first HP book release date as a fan (I was an American tourist languishing in the Milan train station during the last midnight release), and I'm excited just to be excited about a book coming out.
Happy congratulations for TLC and the lucky conference participants aside, the real reason for this post is that, in the ten days they've known about the conference and been bound by contractual obligations to keep it on the down-low, Melissa and Emerson have been driven more than a little insane. The complete transcript of their communcations with each other can be read on TLC:

Aside from a screen's worth of "Oh my god"s and Emerson's penchant for expressing himself through punctuation, I found it pretty darn funny. And I concur with Melissa's opinion of guys in kilts.
"Lad, I don't know where you've been, but I see you've won first prize!"
