Thanks for reminding me...
...Reading a collection of articles on the great what-ifs of history, you find that one minor turning point of the US Civil War involved an obscure Union general (who later went on to write the novel Ben-Hur and become the JKR of the 19th century) mistakenly taking his troops down a road known as the "Shunpike" and therefore not reaching the battle of Shiloh in time to turn the tide and prevent horriffic Union casualties, and you of course desperately try to figure out how the heck JKR, noted for her dislike of the US and US history in general, ever ended up naming a character after such an obscure event in US military history.
